Pediatric Sedation Dentist in The Woodlands, TX

Ensure each visit your child makes to the dentist remains stress-free by opting for sedation. When you need a pediatric sedation dentist in The Woodlands, TX, come to Enchanted Forest Pediatric Dentistry. We offer different sedation options—nitrous oxide, oral, and intravenous—to meet the needs of all of our patients.

Calming Kids' Sedation Dentist

Reduce the anxiety your child might feel when going for a checkup or procedure. Our kids' sedation dentist provides a relaxing experience that will put your child at ease while making treatment simpler. Sedation is recommended by the American Dental Association as an accepted remedy for dental phobia.

Before we use any of our sedation techniques, it is important for the parent to tell us about any and all medical treatments or medications your child is receiving. Dr. Rojas will explain the sedation process to you ahead of time and also provide pre- and post-sedation recommendations.

Nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas, is an effective means of calming patients while keeping them conscious. It's administered during a dental visit combined with oxygen. The calming properties of the gas are especially beneficial for anxious or phobic patients. Because nitrous oxide is very mild, patients feel calm and relaxed while remaining able to talk during treatment. After treatment, the gas is turned off and pure oxygen is administered for 5 to 10 minutes to flush residual gas from the patient's system.

Reassuring Children's Sedation Dentist

Our children's sedation dentist also uses oral sedation, the most common technique employed in the U.S., to ease patient fears. This simple technique is needle-free and results in an especially comfortable visit. Most patients don't even remember the visit—it's as if they slept through the entire process. In reality, patients maintain a level of consciousness to allow cooperation and ensure safety.

Intravenous Sedation Also Available

An intravenous injection of a local anesthetic temporarily blocks pain signals from the gum tissue and teeth. The injection is administered after your child is made calm and comfortable. They will most likely not even remember the procedure or the injection. No matter what type of sedation dentist your child gets, the presence of a responsible caregiver is very important. The caregiver should accompany the child and offer emotional support. After returning home, the caregiver should stay with the child for another two to four hours.
